Actions Speak Louder than Words

… at least they used to. Until President Obama chose Judge Sonia Sotomayor as his new Supreme Court nominee.

You really gotta hand it to the Republicans. When they latch onto something, they’re like a rabbid dog in their refusal to let things go. Such tunnel vision is an amazing feat.

I suppose in this day and age, politicians are loathe to do the obvious. If you want to gauge someone’s racial bias, don’t look at their personal history of actions; instead focus on a speech they made wherein the language used can be interpreted as expressing a racial bias. The sensible thing to do would be to take all or most or even a percentage of all of the cases in which Judge Sotomayor has made a ruling and determine from her rulings whether or not she shows bias, racial or otherwise, in her work.

If she is denied the Supreme Court Justice position, it will set a new precident for judging words above actions and the next time you are jokingly say, “I’m gonna kill him/her!!” you might end up in jail because your words indicate you have murderous intent. *rolls eyes*
