101 Things About Me, Part 12

I write poetry.

Not well, mind you, but that’s just my opinion. I cannot write it on demand. I cannot write rhyming poetry. It’s all just free form; emotions that I experience.

Here’s an example:

A Thousand Tomorrows

If suddenly you knew
you had only a thousand tomorrows left
would it make things easier?
Would it make the risk more urgent to take?
Would it suddenly become easier?
It’s hard to take risks when your soul’s
been wounded.
It’s hard to believe that you can love again;
that you can be loved again.
You want so much to feel that joy again,
the sheer, unbridled passion that is living.
But the instinct to protect yourself
blocks out all reason.
If suddenly you knew
you had only a thousand tomorrows left
could you take that leap of faith?
